All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 23, 1937 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Joan Eagles, Winnfield Life-Long Citizen, Dies Funeral Services Were Conducted Friday Afternoon Mrs. Joan Eagles, 78, widow of the late Ted Eagles, died at her home here, Thursday, December 16, at 8:30 p.m. following a two weeks illness. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Friday. Rev. B. C. Land, pastor, delivered the funeral address and Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian pastor, and Rev. G. A. Morgan, Methodist minister, assisted in the last rites. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: W. M. Grigsby, Ed, Joe, and Ulysses Grigsby, Earl Lamar and G. P. Eagles. Mrs. Eagles, a sister of the late H. P. Long, Sr., and G. P. Long, Sr., was a life resident of Winnfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church here. Both families, Eagles and Long, are pioneer residents of this section. Survivors are two sons, Earl Eagles of Shreveport, and G. P. Eagles of Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. T. G. Smith of DeRidder, La., Mrs. J. L. Land of Shreveport, Mrs. W. W. Grigsby and Mrs. Guy Johnson of Winnfield; one brother, Albert J. Long of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Wright and Mrs. Olive Wright, of Winnfield, Mrs. Julia Nugent of Alexandria; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A large number of relatives from various sections of Louisiana and Arkansas attended the funeral.
