Eagles Held Here Sunday Funeral services for James S. Eagles, Sr., 85, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, with Rev. E. B. Barton officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Eagles, a retired farmer, died Friday afternoon, March 27, 1964, in a Springhill hospital after a brief illness. He was the last survivor of 10 children of early Winn pioneers who came here in 1858 from Fort Trenton (West Monroe). His parents, Edward Eagles, Sr., and Nancy Jan Scarborough Eagles, settled near Winnfield. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are four sons, James S. Eagles, Jr., of Praire Du Rocher, Ill, Edward Eagles of Doyline, Murphy and Clifford Eagles, bothof Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. J. O. Wilson of Alexandria, and Mrs. G. W. Jenkins of Springhill; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
