All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** (From the May 16, 1979, Enterprise-News-American) Ray Eagles Services for Ray Eagles, 83, of Winnfield were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield with the Revs. Robert Gage, Eugene Love, and John Moore officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Hixson (unreadable) Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Eagles died Tuesday, May 15, 1979 in the local hospital after a long illness. He was a Winnfield native, a retired clerk-accountant for the T&G Railroad, and a correspondent for the Monroe Morning World, the Shreveport Times and the Alexandria Town Talk. He served two terms on the Winnfield City Council, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield and a former member of the Winnfield Kiwanis Club. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Rabie Reid and Mrs. Peggy Wood, both of Winnfield, and Mrs. Guinivere Allen of Joyce; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Scott of Winnfield, and Mrs. Nancy Jones of Longview, Wash; four grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
