FOR REV. J. M. EDWARDS Succumbs at Home of His Daughter, Mrs. E. J. Byrnes Funeral services for Rev. James Marion Edwards, 78 years of age who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. J. Byrnes, early Thursday morning, December 26, were held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. B. C. Land, pastor of the First Baptist church, conducted the services. Interment was in the Pollock cemetery. Active and honorary pallbearers were members of the Men's Bible Class of the Baptist church, as follows: Bryant Sholars, C. F. Walsworth, J. N. Sower, R. O. Mills, A. Leonard Allen, Jim Watts, C. O. Garris, Jesse Corley, J. W. Mitchell, L. C. Carter, C. McGinty, B. L. Anderson, J. N. Gates, W. L. Smith, J. E. Curry and W. U. Drewett. The deceased was born in Catahoula parish July 4, 1887. He had been a Baptist minister for the past fifty years serving churches in Catahoula, Bienville and LaSalle parishes. Following the death of his wife six years ago, he came to Winnfield where he has resided since with his daughter, Mrs. Byrnes. He had been in ill health for quite a while. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Byrnes, he is survived by one other daughter, Mrs. C. H. McKeithen, of Selma, La.
