All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 12, 1931 Winn Parish Enterprise Child Killed By Explosion, Buried At Sardis Kenneth Edwards, Age 3, Killed When Child Lights Match Near Gas Drum Victim of gasoline blast set off by a little girl playmate, Kenneth Paul Edwards, 3, succumbed at a Gladewater, Texas hospital at 9:30 o'clock Thursday night, four hours after he had been severely injured when a drum of gasoline exploded at the Dixie Tourist Campo, Gladewater, Texas. Half a dozen other children playing around the drum of gasoline escaped serious injury, but the little six year old girl who is said to have struck the match, sustained painful eye injuries. The blast crashed a hold in the wall of the Hughes Hotel, 30 feet away, and sprayed gasoline over the tourist camp. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Edwards, residents of Gladewater Tourist Camp and formerly of Atlanta, are parents of the victim. The father is an oil field worker. The body was brought to Sardis, La., near Atlanta for burial. Mr. W. C. Edwards of Atlanta is the paternal grandfather.
