R. J. Ellard, 78, Succumbs; Rites To Be Thursday

Rufus Jackson Ellard, 78, of Winnfield, died Wednesday, May 19, 1971 at 6:15
a.m. at Veterans Hospital in Alexandria after a long illness. 

A native of Colfax, he was a member of the Utility Baptist Church in
Jonesville.  He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American
Legion.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with
Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating.  Interment will be in the Garden of Memories
Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Ellard, two daughters, Mrs. Hardy
Smith, Jr., of Winnfield, and Mrs. Robin Shaddox of Pineville; two sons, E. D.
Ellard of Denver, Colorado and Walter J. Ellard of Clarksdale, Miss., nine
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
