Emerson, 69, of Winnfield died Thursday, August 30, 1973 at her residence. Widow of the late John S. Emerson, she was a member of the Methodist Church and a native of Chicago, Illinois. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Father R. V. Lawrence officiating, assisted by Rev. Jack H. Midyett. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near Winnfield. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Samuel M. Emerson of Lake Charles and James Hall Emerson of Winnfield; one daughter, Miss Mercedes C. Emerson of New Orleans; one brother, Edward Krizman of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Belza of Brookfield, Ill., and Mrs. Marian Habal of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren. Pallbearers, nephews of the deceased, were Morris Crawford, Harvey Hugh Emerson, George Emerson, Tommy Emerson, Duke Belza, and R. A. Moon. ====== Submitted by: D. Mark Manley, 1705 Highbridge Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223-1824 Date: 13 June 2005 The death of Mrs. Robert Emmons occurred at the home of her son, Winfred Emmons of Sikes last Monday evening. At the time of her death Mrs. Emmons was 81 years of age. She had been in ill health for about five years but on account of her advanced age was unable to regain her strength. She leaves four children and several grandchildren among whom are Houston Gates and Miss Ruby Gates of Winnfield who will miss her kindly, gentle presence and her wise counsel. She was a devoted mother and a strong christian character. Funeral services were conducted at the Mineral Springs Church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. A. H. Cullen, pastor of the Baptist Church of Winnfield. A large number of friends and relatives attended the last rites.******* Submitter's Note: Mrs. Robert Emmons, before her marriage, was Susan Elizabeth Thornton.
