D. Emerson Held Here Nov. 8 Mrs. Dot Gassiott Emerson, 60, died in Memphis, Tenn., her home for the past 12 years, on Friday, November 5, 1964. She had been in ill health for a number of years, but had been able to carry on her work in a department store until a short time before her death. Mrs. Emerson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe S. Gassiott of Winnfield and was a 1924 graduate of the Winnfield High School. Last rites were conducted at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, Winnfield, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 8, with Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. W. R. Gage officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Leo Sowers, Eck Bozeman, Arnett Garriss, Norman Smith, Dr. A. M. Parker, and John Steen. Surviving are her husband, H. D. Emerson of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, J. E. Gassiott of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Harry B. Knight (Josie) of Seagoville, Texas; and two nephews, Capt. Bobby Gassiott of Ft. Bragg, N. C., and Billy Hugh Knight of Seagoville, Texas. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral of Mrs. Emerson were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gassiott of Love Lady, Texas; Mrs. and Mrs. M. H. Mabry, Mrs. Abbie Mabry, and Mrs. C. B. Starling, all of Houston, Texas; Mrs. M. E. Norton of Haynesville; Mrs. T. E. Yates of Magnolia, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. C. __. Parker of Winnsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grimshaw of Rayville.
