Emmons, Former Winn Man, Buried Monday Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, in Baton Rouge for W. S. Emmons, former Winn Parish resident, who died last Wednesday following a heart attack. Mr. Emmonds, until his death, was Dean of Education at the Oklahoma Polytechnic Institute in Weatherford, Okla. He was recognized as an outstanding educator and served on many important committees in Olkahoma and in his native state of Louisiana. He received his education at Northwestern in Natchitoches, LSU in Baton Rouge, University of Arkansas, and Peabody College where he received his Ph. D. He served as principal in several north Louisiana schools before going to Oklahoma Tech. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Effie Lee McAdams Emmons; one son, Jack Emmons of Baton Rouge; two brothers, J. M. Emmons and J. R. Emmons; six sisters, Mrs. Myrtice House of Tyler, Texas; Mrs. T. L. Newsom of Lake Charles; Mrs. G. L. Womack of Bossier City; Mrs. Alma Bowen of Shreveport; Mrs. A. L. Crain and Mrs. G. C. Kidd of Sikes.
