H. Emmons Dies; Last Rites At Sikes June 11 Sgt. Homer Emmons, 63, native of Sikes, died June 8 after an illness of several months in the Sheppard Air Force Base at Wichita, Texas. He had been in the Air Force 18 years. Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. June 11 at Sikes, with Dr. W. L. Holcomb of Winnfield officiating. Burial was in the Sikes Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Carroll and Douglas Hatcher, J. R. Akins, Bennie Smith, J. E. Jackson and Oswald White, all nephews of the deceased. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Homer Parker of Winnfield, Mrs. Jessie Hatcher of Sikes, and Mrs. I. J. White of Lake Charles; four brothers, R. E. and M. O. Emmons of Sikes; Roy Emmons of Lake Charles, and Grayson Emmons of Shreveport; and his mother, Mrs. A. W. P. Emmons of Winnfield.
