All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Source: Unknown LA newspaper, July, 1951 --------------------------------------------------- Drowned Woman's Funeral Slated Bastrop, July 19.-(Special)- Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Erskins, a Bastrop housewife who drowned in Rocky Ford bayou near here yesterday, will be held Friday at 3 p. m. at the Corrinth Church near Winnfield. The interment will take place at the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Officiating pastors will be Louis B. Williams, pastor of Corrinth Church; Dr. W. L. Holcomb, First Baptist Church and Rev. T. S. Frazier, pastor of Union Church. All live in Winnfield. Monroe and Bastrop firemen called to the scene of the drowning by Mrs. W. F. Currington of Rocky Ford, recovered the body after two hours of dragging. Survivors include: Her husband, Atma Erskins, Bastrop; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Drewett, Winnfield; and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. U. Drewett, Winnfield.
