All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the February 20, 1936 Winnfield News-American Mrs. George Ann Erskins Succumbs At Sikes Feb. 15 Funeral Services Held At Wright Cemetery Sunday Mrs. George Ann Erskins, better known as "Aunt Sis", age 86 years 4 months and 30 days died after a year and 4 days illness at the home of her son, Monroe Erskins at Sikes, La., Saturday, February 15, 1936. Funeral services were held at the Wright Cemetery, Sunday, February 16, 1936 by Rev. T. J. Radcliffe. She was born in Georgia, September 16, 1849, moved to Louisiana with her parents when she was three months old. They settled on the place known now as Hill. She has lived in Winn Parish ever since she moved here. She was a member of the M. P. Church. She was married to the late B. F. Erskins October 28, 1869. To this union were born eleven children. Four children preceded her in death. Surviving are: one sister, Mrs. Martha Underwood, Winnsboro, La., and seven children, W. D. Erskins, Mrs. Della Mills, Oak Grove, La., B. E. Erskins, Columbia, La., G. W. Erskins, Chatham; H. W. Erskins, Calion, Ark., Mrs. Emma Hatten, Winnsboro, M. Erskins, Sikes, and 37 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren.
