"Hot" Evans were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with the Revs. Eugene Love, Mike Howell, and J. P. Miles officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Winnfield. Evans, 76, of Winnfield died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 25, 1984 in Humana Hospital, Winnfield. He was a Winn Parish native, a World War II veteran, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Evans served from 1970-74 as a member of the Winnfield City Council and was also a member of the Winnfield Civil Service Board. Survivors include his wife, Floy C. Evans of Winnfield; two sons, Wilbur B. Evans, Jr., of Alexandria, and Jimmy Bonnette of Winnfield; six half brothers, Willie Evans of Cutoff, Walker Silman of Tomball, Texas, George "Pete" Evans and Thomas "Duck" Silman, both of Montgomery, Wade Evans of Verda, and Johnny Evans of Marshall, Texas; and four half sisters, Ottie Lee Evans of Atlanta, Amy Shaw of Tullos, Florette Keys of Winnfield, and Ollie Baker of Groves, Texas.
