All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 22, 1952 Winnfield News-American or Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Conducted For Mrs. Everett At Pine Grove Native of Jerusalem Dies Feb. 17 After Heart Attack Funeral services were conducted from the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Monday, for Mrs. Linnie C. Everett, who passed away February 17, 1952, at a local hospital following a heart attack. The deceased was born in the Jerusalem settlement in Winn Parish March 30, 1870 and was the daughter of the late Mary Jenkins Brett and Jesse Brett. She lived most of her life in Winn Parish. On August 10, 1886 she was married to Walter R. Everett who preceded her in death in 1904. She was the mother of seven children, four of whom survive. Early in life she united with the Baptist Church and as the time of her death was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. The officiating minister was Dr. W. L. Holcomb and other ministers having a part in the services were Rev. H. J. Mott, Rev. C. M. Robinson, and Rev. W. Getz. Pallbearers were Everett Thurmond, Fred Everett, Emmett Thomas, Paul Thomas, Herman Thomas, and Carl Rogers. Funeral arrangements were under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home and interment was in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ella Thurmond of Calvin and Mrs. Lois Thomas of Winnfield; two sons, Ollie of Couley and Walter of Alexandria; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Little of Couley, one brother, Ira Brett of Natchitoches; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
