All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 1, 1936 Winn Parish Enterprise Automobile Accidents Cause Deaths of Two Former Sikes Residents A branch projecting over the highway knocked Woodrow Evans, 20, from the top of a truck loaded with carnival equipment in Monroe Sunday. He died later of a severe skull fracture. Evans was "hitch hiking" to Monroe from his home at Sikes on the Jonesboro road at the time of the accident. The truck was transporting carnival equipment to Oak Grove, where the West Carroll fair is being held. Evans is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Evans, three brothers and four sisters, of Sikes. Artie Erskine, son of Mr. Geo. Erskine of Chatham, died Tuesday as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services were conducted at Jonesboro Wednesday.
