Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sikes Baptist Church. The Rev. Willie James officiated. Burial was in the Wright Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. The deceased was a native of Sikes, having taught school in that area during his early lifetime, postmaster for 35 years at Sikes, and a long time member of the Sikes Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mae Brand Erskins; one son, B. D. Erskins of Liberty, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Lawson Walker of Sikes; one sister, Mrs. Emma Hatten of West Monroe, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
