Charles Felix Claimed By Death Wednesday at N.O.

A Former Deputy Sheriff and Marshal of Winnfield


Charles Felix, a former marshal of Winnfield, died in a New Orleans hospital
early Wednesday morning from complications following an operation.  Mr. Felix
had been ill for only a short time.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, from which place funeral services
were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. G. A.
Morgan, pastor, assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, of the First Presbyterian
Church and Dr. B. C. Land, pastor of the First Baptist Church.  Interment was
in the Winnfield Cemetery.

Mr. Felix was born in Olaton, Ky., January 29, 1873.  He was a member of the
Odd Fellows fraternity.  He with his family came to Winnfield about 1907. 
Soon after coming here he was appointed deputy marshal and later deputy
sheriff.  He was elected marshal in 1912 and reelected in 1914.

Surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs. Charles Felix, two sons, Everett and
Harry Felix of Winnfield, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Culpepper of New Orlenas
and Miss Mary Elizabeth Felix of Winnfield, a brother, Henry T. Felix of
Olaton, Ky., one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Miller of Hartford, Ky.
