L. Ferguson Funeral Services Held Thursday J. L. Ferguson, a resident of Winnfield for the past 30 years, died at a local hospital Wednesday at 1 p.m., following an illness of two days. He was 76. Funeral services were held today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Ray Teal of Atlanta, with burial in the Atlanta Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Ferguson was born in the Atlanta Community, in Winn Parish, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Ferguson. Known to many people in this area by the nickname of "Coonhide," he was in the fur and syrup business for a number of years. Prior to that he was in the oil business and had been a farmer, mail carrier, and timber man. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was a former Deputy Registrar of Voters in Winn Parish. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. J. L. Ferguson of Winnfield; two sons, Tritos Ferguson of Atlanta and Wayne Ferguson of Winnfield; a daughter, Vonceil Ferguson of Winnfield; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. M. F. Collier and Mrs. J. M. Neal of Atlanta; three brothers, C. H. and E. G. "Gus" Ferguson of Atlanta, and C. C. Ferguson of Many. Pallbearers were Travis Taylor, Clyde Smith, H. E. Gorham, Artis Stroud, Jess Shelton, Norman Smith.
