Ferguson, 21, Injured At Well Near Packton, Dies Caught in a rapidly moving chain at a test well of Humble Oil Refining Company near Packton, Winn Parish, Saturday afternoon, Luther J. Ferguson, age 21, received fatal injuries when his leg was almost torn from his body. The Hixon ambulance of Alexandria was summoned to Packton and he was carried to the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria, but died at 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon. It is said that the victim's leg was caught in a chain which drives the rotary drill and he was badly mangled before the machinery could be stopped. Physicians were summoned immediately and an ambulance rushed from Alexandria to take the unfortunate man to the hospital, where he died soon after arriving there. The body was shipped to Booneville, Arkansas, former home of the unfortunate man, for burial.
