All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 25, 1959 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs. Lillie Fick Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Amelia Fick, who died last Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio, were held here Monday at 2 p.m. Mrs. Fick, 92, was the widow of the late J. B. Fick, former general auditor of Tremont and Gulf Railway Company here. Mrs. Fick was the last surviving charter member of the Everett S. Fick Post Nine, American Legion Auxiliary, and had maintained continuous membership in the organization since it started. The Post is named in memory of her son, Everett S. Fick, who was killed in action in France during World War I, making her the first Gold Star Mother in Winn Parish during that war. Mrs. Fick's husband was a member and president of the Winn Parish Police Jury, and was the 1924 delegate from the Eighth District to the Democratic National Convention in New York. Al Smith was nominated for President. At the time of her death, Mrs. Fick resided in Cleveland, Ohio. Last rites here were conducted in the Hixson Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, with burial in the Winnfield Cemetery. Rev. R. H. Staples officiated at the services. Survivors include two sons, Clarence W. Fick of Cleveland, Ohio, Admiral Harold S. Fick of Coronado, Calif.; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Eck Bozeman, John T. DeLoach, Clyde DeLoach, Burton H. Williams, Jesse Corley, and Kenneth Watts.
