All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 9, 1943 Winn Parish Enterprise Former Local Resident Dies In Texas Hospital John Taylor Finley, 54, died at the Francis Ann Lutcher Hospital, Orange, Texas, Friday, December 3, at 8:30 p.m. as the result of pneumonia. He resided in Winnfield and Sikes for many years. The deceased was a veteran of the first World War and was a member of the American Legion of Jena, La. Military funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church of Jena, La., Sunday, Dec. 5, 1943 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Lee Brooks and Rev. Will Robert officiating. Interment was in the Jena Cemetery. Pallbearers were D. Floyd, A. G. Breithaupt, Oscar Peyton, Milton Swazy, Philip Gurlinghouse, H. B. Russell, Barney Henderson, and J. R. Hobson. For several months before his death Mr. Finley was employed as an electrician for the Consolidated Steel Construction Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Wasson Finley of Cameron, La.; one son, A/C John T. Finley of Thunderbird Airfield, Glendale, Arizona; three sisters, Mrs. J. D. Key and Mrs. Sam McHenry of Columbia, Mrs. Edna Finley Thomas of Pineville; two brothers, H. D. Finley and P. C. Finley of Winnfield; and a number of nieces and nephews. Out of town friends and relatives attending the funeral sere Mr. and Mrs. Steve Norris and daughters Sunshine and Jean, of Bossier City; Mrs. Herbert Wasson, Katherine Ford, Marjorie McHenry, Sammie McHenry, of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Curry of Winnfield; Cicero Finley and family, Harris Finley and family, and Mrs. Julia Strozier, of Harrisonburg; and Mrs. Robertson of Columbia.
