Fittz Dies Suddenly Sunday Dr. S. C. Fittz, 64, who died suddenly at his home here Sunday from a heart attack, was buried in the Winnfield Cemetery Tuesday afternoon following the arrival of his son, Lt. Samuel Clyde Fittz, Jr., who came from Ft. Benning, Ga. Funeral services were conducted at the family home, Alexandria highway, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Active pallbearers were Harry Fuller, Dr. J. R. McCartney, Mack L. Branch, Jesse Sandifer, G. M. Tannehill, R. S. Walsh, Clyde Taylor, and Sam Brian. The list of honorary pallbearers included Dr. J. F. Faith, Dr. Roy Wright, Dr. John Pugh, K. A. Thomas, Tracy Harrel, F. L. Shaw, Sr., W. E. Heard, C. McGinty, Sr., P. K. Abel, B. W. Bailey, Kenneth Watts, A. Leonard Allen, R. W. Buce, W. C. Cookston, Matt Milam, J. B. Stothart, A. L. Smith, Sr., B. G. Pasco, L. Rickerson, L. F. Morrison, A. P. Burton, W. T. Norman, Sion E. Jenkins, Tom Plunkett, W. W. Allen, J. E. Carter, Bryant Sholars, Shirley Jackson, C. F. Walsworth, G. M. Walsworth, Frank S. Craig, S. D. Stennis, J. S. Hunt, L. J. Grigsby, and Judge R. W. Oglesby. Dr. Fittz was the senior member of the Fittz-Faith clinic and attended to his routine duties all day Saturday until seized with a mild heart attack late in the afternoon. Sunday morning he again suffered several attacks and his associates, Drs. J. F. Faith and Roy Wright, were called to his home, but he died soon after their arrival. Dr. Fittz was a native of Winn Parish and after graduating from Tulane medical school began the practice of medicine here in 1908 and continued until his sudden death Sunday. In point of service he was the oldest practicing physician in Winn Parish. During the 38 years he has served Winnfield and the surrounding territory he always enjoyed a large practice and his passing has saddened the whole parish as there are few homes in this area to which he has not been called to relieve the suffering of the sick. He served several terms as parish coroner and was medical examiner for Winn Parish service selective boards in both World Wars I and II. Dairying was his hobby and he owned and operated the largest dairy in Winn Parish. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Malce, student at L. S. U. Medical School; a son, Lt. S. C. Fittz, Jr., U. S. Army, Ft. Benning, Ga.; his mother, Mrs. M. O. Fittz of Winnfield, and a sister, Mrs. S. M. Brian of Winnfield.
