All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 27, 1944 Winn Parish Enterprise Linda Foreman, 2, Drowns in Goose Creek Near Jena Linda Dianne Foreman, 2 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Foreman who reside ten miles out of Winnfield on the Alexandria highway, was drowned in Goose Creek below Jena, La., LaSalle Parish, at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25. The child's body was found on a brush pile with her head in the water shortly after she wandered away from her grandmother, Mrs. Mollie Stevens, who also resides on the Alexandria highway, and other members of a fishing party who had spent the night on the creek. Funeral services were held at the Melton Cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Ward 9 of Winn Parish. Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister of Winnfield, conducted the services under the direction of the Hixon Brothers Funeral Home. Linda is survived by her parents, grandmother, and one sister, Gale Foreman.
