Fort, Former Winn Resident, Dies Thomas M. Fort, 75, of Shreveport, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 1968 at Highland Hospital following an illness of one month. Mr. Fort, a native of Minden, was a resident of Winnfield for many years and a retired loan guaranty officer of the Veterans Administration office in Shreveport. He had been retired since 1957. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at a Shreveport funeral home with Dr. B. C. Taylor, retired pastor of Noel Methodist Church, officiating. The Rev. Sam Nader, pastor of Noel, assisted. Mr. Fort was an active Mason and received his 50-year pin as a Mason last November. He was a member of the Minden Lodge, F. & A. M., and the Royal Arch Chapter and Commandery in Minden. He was also a member of El Karubah Shrine in Shreveport. Mr. Fort was a veteran of World War I and had been a member of Lowe-McFarlane Post No. 14 of the American Legion. Survivors include his widow, the former Anne Weathers of Ethelsville, Ala., and one son, James E. Fort of New Orleans, and four grandchildren.
