Miss Lena Foster, aged 21 years, passed from earth into glory by the pale hand of death on Dec. 4, 1903, after an illness of only a few days. The sudden removal of such a life from our midst, leaves a vacancy and a shadow that will be deeply realized by all who knew her, and will prove a serious loss to our community and to the public, as she was a teacher of the youths of Winn Parish. With deep sympathy for the bereaved relatives of the deceased we express a hope that even so great a loss to us all may be overruled for good by "Him who doeth all things well." She had never made any confession of religion until upon her death bed. She made ready to meet her Savior and said he was ready to go. We should express our abiding love and reverence for her life, our deep sorrow for her untimely death: Her gentle voice is hushed, Her warm true heart is still; On her pale and peaceful face Is resting death's cold chill. Her hands are clasped upon her breast, and in our aching hearts we know that the bereaved ones have no Lena now to greet them, but she is waiting and ready to greet them where there will be no parting; and we can only say farewell, farewell; peaceful be thy silent rest. Slumber sweetly; God knew best, When to call thee home to rest. Farewell, farewell; we must say our last farewell, 'Till we meet beyond the river, happy there to dwell. A Schoolmate
