H. Foster, Native of Winn, Buried Saturday Funeral services for Rev. Harry H. Foster, 49, pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church at Effie, were held last Saturday at 4 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church near Winnfield. Rev. Foster was a native of Winn Parish and was well known for his church work in the parish. He died Friday night of a heart attack, in a local hospital, after a short illness. Rev. H. J. Mott, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist Church, and Rev. J. O. James of Olla, officiated at the funeral, with burial in Sardis Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Rev. Foster was pastor of the church at Effie at the time of his death. Other pastorates in his ministry included New Jerusalem, which he organized and sponsored the building of the present building; New Salem Baptist Church near Montgomery, where he sponsored the church building; Nebo Baptist Church near Jena, where a new educational building was built during his pastorat; Pine Grove Baptist Church near Bastrop; and Macedonia Church at Effie. He was an inactive member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife, the former Dorothy Edith Corley; one daughter, Mrs. H. C. James of Winnfield; one son, Rev. George Foster of Kelly; two brothers, Murphy of Winnfield and Tom of Colfax; four sisters, Mrs. E. H. Lasyone of Verda, Mrs. Jim Lasyone of Winnfield; Mrs. Bob Barton of Mangham; and Mrs. O. B. Leary of Rayville, and three grandsons. Pallbearers, all ministers, were Reverends W. C. Bounds, Ernest Evans, E. B. Barton, J. C. Smith, and R. O. Bazar. Honorary pallbearers were Reverends Simmons, Whitford Mize, J. Norris, Raborn, John T. Walters, Lester Rhymes, Virgil Hart, Holt, and T. T. Edmonds.
