Foster WINNFIELD- Services for Weston G. "Buddy" Foster will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Cemetery. Foster, 74, of Winnfield, died Saturday, July 24, 1999 in his residence. He was a member of the Berean Baptist Church and a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served as a Cryptographer for the U. S. Army Signal Corps. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars along with the Good Conduct and WWII Victory medals. Survivors include his wife, Imell "Mel" Jenkins Foster of Winnfield; two sons, Gary Foster of Atlanta and Tommy Foster of Calvin; one daughter, Mattie Kaye Thornhill of Alexandria; one stepson, Camille Shelfo of Guadalajara, Mexico; two stepdaughters, Kathleen Schappert of Houston, Texas and Marleen Cheatham of Seneville, Georgia; one brother, James Rudolph "Rudy" Foster of Winnfield; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday evening and from 8 a.m. until time of service on Monday morning in the funeral home.
