Sarah Stovall Fouts

(April 12, 1921 - October 19, 2008)

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Sarah Stovall Fouts, 87, died on October 19, 2008 after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral
services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev.
Steve Caraway of Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park
Cemetery.

Mrs. Fouts was born in Sikes, Louisiana to D.M. and Louella Stovall in 1921. She was a long time
resident of Shreveport where she graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1938. She was the secretary
at Atkins Elementary School for twenty-five years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist
Church. Over the years she served the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in numerous capacities
including Sunday school

teacher, MYF leader, president of the official board, life time member of the WSCS, and delegate to
the Annual United Methodist Conference. In the community she volunteered to deliver food for Sister
Margaret, was president of the PTA at Atkins Elementary and Linwood Junior High School, and was active
in the Fire Fighters' Auxiliary. Mrs. Fouts was in the group of mothers who organized the First March
of Dimes in the Shreveport area.

Mrs. Fouts was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. Fouts, Sr.; her son, Eddie Fouts; mother and
father, D.M. and Louella Stovall; three sisters, Velda Prince, Maurine McCarty, and Carlotta Ferguson;
five brothers, D.M. Stovall, Jr., Samuel Woodrow, Karl Stovall, John Stovall, and Rev. James Stovall.

She is survived by her sister Evelyn Finuf; two sons, James Ray Fouts and wife, Pat of Mandeville;
Lonnie Fouts and wife, Jean; two daughters, Sally Cox and husband, James; Evelyn Davis and husband,
Joe of San Antonio, Texas; and daughter-in-law Ruth Fouts. She is survived by fifteen grandchildren
and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives today in the faces of her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Fouts' grandchildren. The family wishes to express appreciation to Hospice of
San Antonio. The family requests that memorials be made to Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church,
the Methodist Children's Home, or the charity of the donor's choice.
