B. Shelton Dies Suddenly Feb. 27 Funeral services for James Christopher Fox were held March 1, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Stratford with Rev. Jim White, pastor, officiating. Mr. Fox passed away suddenly Feb. 27, at about 8:05 a.m. in a local nursing home at the age of 87 years and 23 days. Mr. Fox was born Feb. 4, 1876 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Fox of San Saba, Tex., where he spent his early years. He served at one time as a pioneer Texas Ranger in bandit days. He later came to Oklahoma where he operated a grocery store and filling station for a number of years; he also did carpenter work but had been retired for several years. Mr. Fox was a Mason and an Oddfellow. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. E. S. Ramsey, McAllen, Tex.; one brother, C. A. Fox, Pasadena, Tex.; one half-brother, Tom W. Fox, Blue Eye, Mo.; five half-sisters, Mrs. Josie Rambo, Blue Eye, Mo., Mrs. G. H. Brister, San Saba, Tex., Mrs. Gertrude Jones, National City, Calif., Mrs. Lucy Behrens, Eden, Tex., and Mrs. Lizzie Aimwell, Selma, Calif. A niece, Mrs. Ruth Shelton, Winnfield, with whom he had made his home part of last year, and a number of other nieces and nephews. Out of town relatives attending the last rites were Mrs. E. S. Ramsey and Closner Ramsey of McAllen, Tex., Mrs. G. H. Brister of San Saba, Tex., Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Shelton of Winnfield.
