Franklin, 38 of Urania, was killed last Thursday afternoon in a mishap at the Georgia-Pacific Sawmill at Urania. According to John Taylor, personnel manger at Urania, Franklin was killed instantly at about 2:30 p.m. when he became entangled in a chain conveyor. He was employed at Urania as a maintenance millwright and had been employed at Urania Lumber Co. and later Georgia Pacific since 1958. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Crossroads Baptist Church near Tullos with Revs. E.D. Dearmon and Philip Curry officiating. Burial was in Guin Cemetery near Tullos, was arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Florence Jordan Franklin of Urania; two daughters, Miss Judie Lyn Franklin and Miss Jeanette Franklin and a son Kerry Oliver Franklin all af Urania; four brothes, Lewis Franklin of Tullos, Andrew Jackson Franklin of Tullos, O.C. Corley of Atlanta, Georgia and Jack Jones of the U.S. Army, Indiana, a sister Mrs. Mayola Gunter of Pineville and his mother, Mrs. Agnes Franklin of Tullos. Pallbears were Ray Parham, Delmar Gates, Glenn Sandeers, Leroy Peppers, Lamar Douglas and Huey Bau. Page 2A Deepest sympathy is also extended to the family of Mr. O.J. Franklin, who was killed Thursday at Urania. He was employed by Georgia-Pacific. Funeral services were held at the Crossroads Baptist Church near Tullos. Page 2A Urania News The members of the O.J. Franklin of Tullos, Mrs. Agnes Franklin, Lewis Franklin of Tullos, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Ray and Mr. & Mrs. Bobby Ray of Greenville, Mississippi, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Neal, Rosa and Tonya and Bob Neal of Fort Worth, Texas. Grandma Jordan is in the Caldwell Hospital in very serious condition. Mrs. Louise Jordan and Mrs. O. J. Franklin went to visit Grandma Jordan Thursday morning, she is Mrs. Franklin's mother.
