All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 17, 1947 Winn Parish Enterprise Heart Attack Is Fatal To Granvel "Shorty" Frazier Funeral services for Granvel Cortez "Shorty" Frazier, 44, who died suddenly of a heart attack at 10:30 p.m. Friday night, July 11, were held at the Gansville Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, July 13, at 3 o'clock with the Rev. H. J. Mott and Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Interment was in the Gansville Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Mr. Frazier, who was the son of Mrs. R. H. Smith of Ruston and the late E. E. Frazier, was born at Dubach, La., July 11, 1903. His death occurred on his 44th birthday soon after he had parked his taxi in front of Hazel's Caf‚ after returning from a taxi call. He was found shortly after his death, seated in the front seat of the taxi. Mr. Frazier had complained of not feeling well for the past several days, but had insisted on staying on the job. Mr. Frazier had been proprietor of Hazel's Caf‚ in Winnfield for the past 10 years and was in the taxi business for the past 17 years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. James E. Hazer, Martha Nell, Louise, and Jeanette Frazier, all of Winnfield; one son, Granvel Leon Frazier, Winnfield; his mother, Mrs. R. H. Smith of Ruston; two sisters, Mrs. C. R. Jaggers of Bauxite, Ark., and Mrs. David Bell of Atlanta; two brothers, Edgar and Cloy Frazier of Winnfield. Pallbearers were J. J. Crippen, Ebb Machen, U. B. Carpenter, Welby Willis, Lloyd Trawick, and A. G. Kimball.
