All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 17, 1953 Winnfield News American & February 19, 1953 Winn Parish Enterprise (both obituaries are exactly the same) Last Rites Held Saturday For Tommy Frederick Thomas Jefferson Frederick, 50, well known native of Winn Parish and resident of South Winnfield passed away on Feb. 12, 1953 at 11 p.m. in a local hospital. Tommy, as he was known to his many friends suffered a stroke shortly after beginning work at the American Creosote Co. Monday morning. He had been employed with the creosote industry for twenty five years in South Winnfield and was a trusted employee and well loved friend of all those who worked with him. He was a respected citizen and a neighbor to all the people of South Winnfield where he was always interested in any improvements for the welfare of his community. Funeral services were held on February 14 at 2 p.m. in the South Winnfield Baptist Church with Rev. R. S. Sjolander officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Tommy was born on Dec. 4, 1902. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leona Frederick, and six son, Troy Lee, Willie Edward, Tommy, Jr., Floyd Dale, Earl Lloyd, and Leslie Veldon, and two grandchildren, Willie Edward, Jr., and Peggy Lee Frederick, all of South Winnfield. Three sisters, Mrs. Harriet Massey of Orange, Texas, Mrs. Tiny Bemont of Laurel Heights, and Mrs. Zeale Gilcrease of South Winnfield, and one brother, Arthur Frederick of Winnfield and several nieces and nephews.
