Gaar Dies At Ruston, La. Funeral services were held Friday for J. A. Gaar, 85, resident of Lincoln Parish at the First Presbyterian Church in Ruston by Rev. Tom Davis, pastor, assisted by Rev. R. W. Vaughan and Rev. J. J. Rassmussen, pastor of the Methodist Church, and Rev. Mr. Hinter of Dodson. Interment was in the Wilder Cemetery. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. G. W. Braswell, Mrs. T. A. Hilton, Mrs. A. A. Hedgepeth; 10 grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. He was the oldest grandson of Michael and Elizabeth Gaar, who came to Dodson in 1875 from Atlanta, Ga. (Note: Part of this obit is in error. The Gaar family came to an area approximately six miles east of present day Dodson, Winn Parish, in the 1850s, that settlement being named Gaars Mill).
