Gaar of Dodson Dies From Heart Attack Member of Prominent Winn Parish Family Laid To Rest John E. Gaar, 65 years of age, a member of a prominent Winn Parish family, and the Methodist Protestant Church, died Sunday afternoon, 4:30 at the home of his sister, Miss Zella Gaar of near Dodson. Mr. Gaar had been in ill health for some time, however, his sudden demise was a distinct shock to the people of Dodson and Winn Parish. Death was due to a heart attack. He was a member of one of the outstanding families of Winn Parish and North Louisiana. Mr. Gaar is survived by three sons and one daughter, Glenn and Blanchard Gaar, Miss Avice Gaar of Shreveport; John Henry Gaar of Huntsville, Texas; four brothers, J. W. Gaar, B. E. Gaar of Gaars Mill; L. M. Gaar of Minden, and W. M. Gaar of Tyler, Texas; four sisters, Miss Zella Gaar, Mrs. J. B. Payne, of Dodson; Mrs. Maggie Sanders of Ruston; and Mrs. D. M. Stovall of Shreveport. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Methodist Protestant Church, Rev. I. A. Patton of Monroe, pastor of the M. P. Church, and Rev. D. D. Bodie, of Hodge, pastor of the M. E. Church, having officiated. Interment was made in the Vienna Cemetery near Ruston. The following acted as active pallbearers: A. L. Deason, Ray Folse, Kermit Gaar, Shelby Gaar, Karl Stovall, and Wayman Payne. Honorary pallbearers were T. L. Jones, Wilbur Sholars, Bryant Sholars, B. W. Bailey, R. W. Oglesby, of Winnfield; H. R. Sylvest, A. L. Mixon, E. Walker, C. L. Shell, B. M. Stovall, L. J. Stovall, R. A. Norred, James Daily, W. D. Temple, B. M. Feazel, M. D. Nicholson, W. S. Terrell, and H. D. Scott. Among the out of town relatives who attended the funeral services of John E. Gaar which were held Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Stovall, Evelyn, Carlotta and Karl Stovall, of Shreveport; W. M. Gaar, A. L. Deason of Tyler, Texas; Kermit Gaar and Roy Folse of London, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Beeson Gaar and daughter of Monroe; Mrs. Maggie Sanders, J. A. Gaar, of Ruston; L. M. Gaar of Minden; Mrs. J. A. Gaar of Jonesboro; Mr. and Mrs. John H. Gaar of Huntsville, Texas; Mrs. Mae Gaar, Glenn and Blanchard Gaar, Miss Avice Gaar of Shreveport; Willie Gaar of Winnfield; Miss Florence Gaar of Ruston; W. L. Dark and J. J. Lee of Gaars Mill.
