John M. Gardner Rites Held Jan. 10 At S. Winnfield

John M. Gardner, 70, of Winnfield, died in a Shreveport hospital at 6 p.m.
Tuesday following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held January 10, in the South Winnfield Baptist Church
with the Rev. J. O. Payne, pastor, and the Rev. Edward Smith, pastor of
Donnahoe Ferry Baptist Church in Pineville, officiating.  Burial was in the
Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Gardner was a native of Lincoln Parish and had been a resident of Winn
Parish for 45 years.  He was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran
of World War I>

Survivors include his widow; two brothers, Will Gardner of Ruston and Lucial
Gardner of Haughton, and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Emerson of Shreveport.
