O. Garrett Pioneer Citizen of Winn Parish Dies Wed. May 11th A. O. Garrett, for more than fifty years a citizen of Winn Parish and who has been in failing health for several years, died suddenly at his home in Wattsville community Wednesday, May 11 at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 20 days. His remains were laid to rest in the Bethlehem Cemetery Thursday at 2 p.m. Funeral services were held by Rev. John D. Kitchingham. Mr. Garrett was born in Mississippi in 1856 and when about the age of 21, moved to Winn Parish and settled near the Mars Hill Community, later moving to Wattsville where he engaged in farming until his death a few days ago. To his marriage to Miss Mary Harris Mott, five children were born, all of whom are now living. They are E. T. Garrett, T. L. Garrett, S. Garrett, C. M. Garrett, and Mrs. Jesse McQuillen.
