T. "Ed" Garrett Succumbs; Burial At Bethlehem Edward Thomas "Ed" Garrett passed away Saturday, July 25th, about six o'clock p.m. at a local hospital. Mr. Garrett had been in ill health for a number of years but death came unexpectedly at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 14 days. Mr. Garrett was born and reared in Winn Parish and was a retired farmer. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church and a life member of the Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were conducted at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. R. F. Hancock and Rev. Jewel Canerday of Calvin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic rites being conducted at the graveside. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge. Active pallbearers were Virgil Carpenter, Harold Strickland, Levi Price, R. C. Bartlett, Rev. Glen Griffin, and Rev. Clarence Bates. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Pardue, Sunnyside, Wash.; four sons, Brithal Garrett, Little Rock, Ark.; Thomas Garrett, Many, La.; Douglas E. Garrett and Hubbard Garrett, Rt. 3, Winnfield; two brothers, P. L. and O. M. Garrett, Winnfield, Rt. 3; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
