Eli Garner, a native of Alabama, and a resident of Winnfield for the past six years, died in a local hospital Thursday, Feb. 2, 1961. Funeral services will be conducted at Stapelton, Ala., Saturday or Sunday. The body will remain at Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield, until early Friday morning. Mr. Garner had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. John P. Duff, here. His wife had passed away here about five years ago. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Duff, Winnfield; Mrs. Bessie Gresham, Mobile, Ala., Mrs. George Simon, New Orleans, and Mrs. George Devines, Loxley, Ala.; and six sons, Leroy Garner, Winnfield; Luther, Herbert, Willis, and Wesley, all of Goldonna, and Laymon, in the Army at Willowick, Ohio.
