   Funeral services for Ellen Carter Garrett were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday
in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Mike Howell and Donald Rudd
officiating.  Burial following in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Calvin under
the direction of Southern, Winnfield.
   Mrs. Garrett, age 78 of Winnfield, died Saturday, June 1, 1996 in her
residence.  She was a native of Calvin and a member of Yankee Springs
Baptist Church.
   Mrs. Garrett is survived by three sons and three daughters (all living);
two sisters, Bertha Weeks of Winnfield and Pearl Carpenter of Calvin; 9
grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
