He was a native of the Bethlehem community near Calvin. Funeral services were conducted at a chapel near Arcadia at 10 a.m. on December 27 and at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Officiating were Revs. E. J. Yocum, Jewell Canerday, nd the Rev. Copeland. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were _________ Garrett, Austin and Fred Carpenter, Glen Griffin, J. D. M___, and Mr. Towns. Surviving are his wife and one daughter, Debbie Anita, of Gibsland; his father, Edward Garrett, Bethlehem, four brothers, Douglas, Thomas, and Hubbard Garrett, Bethlehem community, and Brithol Garrett of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Winnie Pardue, Sunnyside, Calif.
