Garrett Of Bethlehem Dies Suddenly March 2 S. "Sug" Garrett, 52, merchant and filling station operator of the Bethlehem community, died suddenly at his home Friday night, March 9, following a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Sunday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. T. T. Edwards and the Rev. Alwin Stokes in charge. Mr. Garrett was a leader and a substantial citizen of the parish and was active in church and Sunday School. He leaves his wife, the former Janet Griffin; one son, Sgt. Eugene Garrett, stationed in Missouri; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Bates, Mrs. Joyce Carpenter, Mrs. Johnnie Price, and Mrs. Willie Bartlett, all of Calvin; three brothers, Ed and Pat of Calvin, and O. M. of Winnfield.
