All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 11, 1940 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held For Gene Edward Gassiott Tuesday Gene Edward Gassiott, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gassiott of Tremont, who died early Monday morning in the Ruston sanitarium following an operation, were held at the Winnfield First Baptist Church Tuesday with the Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor, the Rev. G. A. Morgan, Methodist minister, and the Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian pastor, officiating. Interment was in the local cemetery. The youth was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Gassiott of Winnfield. Both Mr. J. S. Gassiott and Mr. Ed Gassiott are veteran employees of the Tremont and Gulf railway. Surviving Gene Edward, besides his parents and grandparents, are one brother, Bobby Ray. Acting as pallbearers were Don Walsh, Estes Bozeman, C. C. Carter, Robert Edgington, Gary Sikes, Jimmy Taylor, and Prentice Cole of Tremont; Ray Grinshaw and Floyd Sandiford, of Winnsboro; and Roy Grinshaw of Rayville. Honorary pallbearers were members of the 7th grade of the Choudrant High School.
