Mrs. Gates died as a result of a heart ailment in a Baton Rouge hospital on July 26. She is survived by her husband, John L. Gates; four daughters, Miss Sybil Gates of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. M. A. Banta of Baton Rouge, Ann and Jeanette of West Monroe; her mother, Mrs. J. N. Gates of Baton Rouge; one sister, Mrs. J. Campbell of Baton Rouge; four brothers, Frank Killingsworth of Baton Route, Iley Killingsworth of Montgomery, Dewey Killingsworth of Fort Worth, Texas, and Perry Killingsworth of Winnfield. Among those attending the funeral from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. Guy L. McElroy, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Boyette, Mrs. Minerva McKaskle, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Kinman, Mrs. Isabel Whitten of Parish, Texas, also attended with Mrs. McElroy. Mrs. R. L. Fluitt of Winnfield, is a sister in law to Mrs. Gates.
