Mrs. Lela Gates Funeral Held Tues., July 29

Lela Gates, 84, of Clarks died Saturday in the Caldwell Parish Hospital at
Columbia, La.

Survivors include three sons, E. W. Gates of Shreveport, Verlon Gates of
Clarks, and J. E. Gates of Urania; three daughters, Mrs. Etha Peppers, Mrs.
Ruby Kelly, and Mrs. Cecil McGinty, all of Clarks; two brothers, Jack Crain of
Sikes, La., and Oscar Crain of Grayson, La.; a sister, Mrs. Zelma Mote of
Clarks; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and three great-great
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 at the Hebron Baptist
Church under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.  Rev. A. A. Calhou and
Rev. Davis Dearman were officiating ministers.  Interment was in the Hebron
Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Gates was a Sikes native and a member of the Hebron Baptist Church.
