Mrs. S. J. Gates Succumbs at Sikes

Funeral services for Mrs. S. J. Gates, 78, who succumbed at her home in Sikes,
Friday, October 7, 1943, were held at the Sikes Baptist Church with the Rev.
Tom Ratcliff officiating.  Burial was in the Sikes Cemetery.

Surviving are six children, L. W. Gulledge, J. J. Gulledge, Mrs. J. J.
Gulledge, Mrs. J. J. Kelly, of Sikes; Mrs. Gene Holloway, Mrs. Jimmy Busby,
and Dewey Gates, all of Crowville.  She also leaves nine stepchildren, Mrs. D.
L. Kirkland of Shreveport, Mrs. A. M. Kenny of Alto, Texas; Mrs. J. I. Taylor,
Sam, Robert, Irvin, Jessie, and Oliver Gates, all of Sikes.
