Mrs. S. G. Gates, 82, Succumbs; Rites At Sikes

Mrs. S. G. Gates, 82, of Sikes, died Wednesday, November 25, 1970 in the
Winnfield General Hospital after an illness of several months duration.

She was a member of the Sikes Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, S. G. Gates of Sikes; one son, Morris G. Gates
of Dodson; one daughter, Ms. A. N. Brown of Haynesville; one brother, Chester
Erskins of Sikes; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Gulledge, Mrs. Verde McMurry, both
of Sikes, and Mrs. Esther Miller of Liberty, Texas; four grandchildren and
ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Sikes Baptist Church
with the Rev. Willie James officiating, assisted by Rev. E. B. Beams of
Dodson.  Burial was in the Sikes Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marshall Adams, Ruel Emmons, Puckett Willis, Woodrow Fordham,
Harold Simmons, and Stanley Branch.
