Gauthier, 50, businessman and former mayor of Cottonport, died at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 1966, at his home. A native of Moreauville, Gauthier moved to Cottonport in 1921. He was appointed mayor in 1942 after having served as a member of the town council form 1940 until 1942. Gauthier was active in the wholesale lumber business. He had been a member of the board of directors of the Cottonport Bank since 1954. He was a member of the Cottonport Knights of Columbus Council 1199 and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Cottonport. He was a charter member of the Cottonport Service Club and served as president of the organization in 1962. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary D. White Gauthier, daughter of Frank White of Winnfield and a former resident of Winnfield, and a niece of Mrs. A. B. White, Sr., his mother, Mrs. Lessie G. Gauthier, and one brother, Leland Gauthier, all of Cottonport. Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Milburn Broussard, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Cottonport Cemetery.
