Gentry, Farmer, Falls Dead Thursday Funeral Services Will Be Held Friday At Corinth Cemetery J. D. Gentry, prominent Winn Parish farmer, fell dead at his home this morning, Thursday, between 5:30 and 6:00 o'clock, a short while after he had arisen for his usual day's work. Dr. J. F. Faith, coroner, said that he died form a heart attack. Mr. Gentry was 77 years of age and a Primitive Baptist. He was born in Georgia and came to Louisiana many years ago, settling in this parish about thirty-five years ago. It was said of him that he was the first farmer in this section to raise watermelons and to sell them by a house to house canvas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 14th at the Corinth Church. The Rev. Brown of Ruston and Rev. Alwin Stokes will conduct the services. Edmonds Funeral Home will be in charge. Surviving are his widow and one son, L. M. Gentry of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Etta Cheatwood of Ruston; one sister, Mrs. Eliza Sage of Winnfield; a brother, John, and one sister of Georgia.
