Godfrey Webster Godfrey, age 32, died suddenly in his office in Shreveport Monday afternoon of acute indigestion. His body was shipped here on Tuesday where funeral services took place at the First Baptist Church at 4 p.m. with the Rev. A. H. Cullen presiding. Mr. Godfrey was born in the Beech Creek settlement of Winn Parish. His father was the late Dr. S. S. Godfrey who died in Winnfield several years ago and his mother was Mrs. Minnie Ware Godfrey, who with two children, Sam Godfrey of Shreveport and Miss Edna Godfrey of Jackson, Miss., survive him. He joined the Baptist Church at age 16, was a Scottish Rite Mason, Shriner, and a member of the El Karubah Temple at Shreveport at the time of his death. His other and sister arrived from Jackson, Miss., Tuesday afternoon and were present at the funeral services. They were met at Ruston by Mrs. S. J. Harper and son, Blanchard, and wife. The local Masons had charge of the funeral, the pallbearers being Dr. Bumgardner, Henry Willis, D. E. Sikes, Horace Peters, H. J. Rogers, and J. M. Breedlove. Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dawkins of Shreveport; Mrs. J. H. Humphries and C. I. Humphries of Jena; Mrs. W. E. Godfrey, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Fisher of Columbia; Mrs. J. A. McConnell of Minden; Miss Emily Hunter of Boyce.
