He was a logging contractor and a native of Natchitoches. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Maurice Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Maurice Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Survivors are two sons, Earl Gongre of Montgomery and Edgar J. Gongre of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Lucille Pender and Louise Pender, both of Montgomery; a brother, Hargrove Gongre of Belle Chasse; four sisters, Agnes Lonadier of New Orleans, Albert McClain of Monroe, Ceile Coolman and Estelle Johnson, both of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
